About the center

The Competence Center is a structural unit of the Makhambet Utemisov West Kazakhstan University and carries out its activities on the basis of the university charter and the Regulations on the Center. In the organizational structure of the university, the Center is subordinate to the Director of the Department of Strategic Development and Innovations.

Mission and objectives of the service

The mission of the Center is to create a modern, flexible and effective system of professional competence development that ensures continuous education and increases the competitiveness of specialists in the context of the transformation of the economy and education.

The main objectives of the Center's activities are:

  • development of professional competence and advanced training of specialists;
  • preparation of teachers for the introduction of updated educational content and modern educational technologies;
  • methodological support for the implementation of educational programs, taking into account the current and prospective needs of the education system;
  • improving the quality of training competitive graduates;
  • improving the management of the educational process.

The Center acts as an expert and methodological platform for the introduction of the tools of the National Qualification System into the educational environment.

Main tasks

The activities of the Center are aimed at the comprehensive development of the educational and scientific-methodological environment of the university and include solving the following tasks:

  • development of pedagogical skills and professional competence of teachers;
  • coordination and systematization of the methodological work of the university;
  • updating and deepening knowledge in the field of pedagogy and educational technologies;
  • development and introduction of normative and methodological documentation regulating the educational process;
  • introduction of modern educational technologies and digital solutions;
  • improvement of teaching forms, methods and tools;
  • development of the scientific and methodological potential of the teaching staff;
  • study, generalization and dissemination of advanced pedagogical practice;
  • formulation of proposals for the modernization of the educational process based on the achievements of science and practice;
  • information and analytical support of the methodological activities of the university.

Main areas of activity

The Competence Center carries out its activities in the following main areas:

Professional development and retraining

  • organization of advanced training of teachers in leading universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad;
  • conducting courses, trainings and educational programs on topical issues of higher education;
  • development of language competencies (state and foreign languages).

Scientific and methodological support

  • development and implementation of the University's methodological work plan;
  • coordination of the activities of academic and methodological councils;
  • preparation of regulatory and methodological documents;
  • support for the development of educational programs.

Innovations in education

  • monitoring global and national trends in education;
  • introduction of modern educational technologies and digital tools;
  • approbation and dissemination of innovative pedagogical practices.

Human resources development

  • improving the professional and scientific level of teachers;
  • development of creative and research potential of teaching staff;
  • organization of mentoring and support of young teachers.

Scientific and methodological activities

  • organization and holding of conferences, seminars, webinars;
  • publishing activities, including the production of educational and methodological literature and electronic resources;
  • systematization and dissemination of advanced pedagogical experience.

Interaction and partnership

  • cooperation with government agencies, educational organizations and professional communities;
  • participation in the development of the professional qualifications recognition system;
  • interaction with employers and stakeholders.

Continuing education and retraining

  • implementation of additional and non-formal education programs for various categories of students;
  • organization of training for teachers, specialists and business representatives;
  • retraining of specialists who do not have pedagogical education.
