On January 6, 2026, a round table entitled “Milestones of a Scholar’s Life” was held at M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University to mark the 70th anniversary of Murat Nauryzgalievich Sdykov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Honorary Citizen of the city of Uralsk.
The event was attended by representatives of the Akim’s Office of West Kazakhstan Region and the Akimat of Uralsk city, heads of regional administrative bodies, Rector of the University N.Kh. Sergaliyev, vice-rectors, faculty members, representatives of higher education institutions and educational organizations of the city, as well as representatives of the Zhaiyk Press Center and mass media.
An exhibition of Professor M.N. Sdykov’s scholarly works was organized in the foyer of the conference hall, featuring his monographs, textbooks, and publications reflecting the main stages of his academic and pedagogical career.
The opening remarks were delivered by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations of M. Utemisov WKU, Professor K.M. Akhmedenov. During the round table, reports and congratulatory speeches were presented by the university administration, representatives of government bodies, colleagues, and students of the юбиляр. Special attention was given to Professor Sdykov’s significant contribution to the development of historical science in Kazakhstan, his research in the fields of history, demography, and archaeology, as well as his outstanding archaeological discovery — the “Taksai Princess” (“Golden Woman”) monument, which gained wide scholarly recognition.
Warm congratulations were addressed to the jubilarian by domestic and international colleagues, including video messages. The event was accompanied by musical performances and speeches by representatives of the veteran community, faculty members of the city’s higher education institutions, as well as Professor Sdykov’s students and followers.
In closing, Murat Nauryzgalievich Sdykov delivered a concluding speech, expressing his gratitude to the university administration, colleagues, and students for their attention and support. The round table concluded with a commemorative group photo and informal communication among participants.
