Distance learning center of West Kazakhstan University after M. Utemisov was created in 2008.

Since September 2023, it has been renamed the Center for Distance and Online Learning.

The aim of the DO is to expand students' access to high-quality educational services and gain knowledge through information and communication technologies, telecommunications and the Internet.

According to the "Rules for the organization of the educational process on distance learning technologies" Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 20, 2015 No. 137, as amended by the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 07, 2023 No. 397 "Rules for the organization of the educational process on distance learning and in the form of online learning according to educational programs higher and (or) postgraduate education", distance learning in the WKU is provided:

1) participants of international, republican training camps, sports competitions, intellectual and creative contests and festivals for the period of participation;

2) students who have the conclusion of the medical advisory commission on the state of health;

3) students in organizations of higher and postgraduate education do not exceed the established volume according to a certain list of areas of training;

4) to prepare students for double-degree programs and exchange programs of students;

5) students enrolled in academic mobility programs;

6) in conditions of restrictive measures, including quarantine, emergency situations of a social, natural and man-made nature, including the prevention and treatment of diseases of the population, sanitary and anti-epidemic and sanitary preventive measures;

7) distance learning is applied to non-formal, additional education, retraining and advanced training.

The main tasks of the center:

• Creating conditions for students to master knowledge based on the use of distance learning;
• Ensuring the student's access to the educational portal within the framework of distance learning;
• Control and protection of access to information in order to preserve confidentiality and falsify training;

The university has a modern telecommunication information, material and technical base at its disposal, which ensures the acquisition of knowledge remotely.

Support of the teacher during the entire period of study.

After enrolling in the university, an introductory course on working in the distance learning system with a presentation is conducted for students.

Throughout the entire period of study on the educational portal AIS Platonus «Assignment» (platon.nnsoft.kz ) with educational content, accompanied by the center's methodologists.
