The Center for Sociological Research (CSR) of M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University carries out its activities in accordance with the Regulations on the CSR and on the basis of the approved work plan. The activities of the Center are coordinated by the Vice rector for educational work and social problems
Mission:
To assist the university administration in making managerial decisions aimed at improving the quality of the educational process, educational work, and the university’s social policy by providing information and analytical materials based on the results of sociological research.
Goals:
- Information and analytical support for managerial decisions made by the university administration.
- Ensuring a feedback system between the WKU administration and students, faculty members, and staff.
Main activities
- Conducting sociological monitoring of views, opinions, value judgments, and attitudes of students, faculty, and staff, reflecting their perception of various aspects of university and social life.
- Providing methodological and advisory assistance to structural divisions of the university, as well as to students, master’s and doctoral students, faculty members, and other interested persons in conducting sociological research.
- Carrying out applied social and marketing research for interested stakeholders.
The Center for Sociological Research has been operating since 2004. Its main area of activity is conducting sociological research among students, faculty, and university staff within the framework of the following projects:
- «Students’ Opinion on the Effectiveness of the Educational Process at M. Utemisov WKU»;
- «Social Well-Being and Political Orientations of Students of M. Utemisov WKU»;
- «Assessment of the Social Well-Being of Faculty and Staff of M. Utemisov WKU»;
- «Monitoring of Corruption Risks and Manifestations of Corruption at M. Utemisov WKU»
The CSR participated in the implementation of research projects of M. Utemisov WKU commissioned by the Department of Internal Policy of the Akimat of West Kazakhstan Region, including:
- «Migration Sentiments of the Residents of West Kazakhstan Region»;
- «Identification of Public Opinion on Corruption Manifestations in West Kazakhstan Region»;
- «Identification of Public Opinion on the Effectiveness of Local Executive Authorities in Providing Public Services to the Population of West Kazakhstan Region»;
- «Monitoring of the Interethnic Situation in West Kazakhstan Region»;
- «Monitoring of the Socio-Political Situation in West Kazakhstan Region».
